Without Any Warning

Synopsis: Ocean City, New Jersey – When Sam’s old college friend, Mona unexpectedly arrives after mysteriously disappearing, it throws Sam’s life into chaos. All she wants to do to write her next novel in peace and quiet in the beautiful beach house in Ocean City, NJ. Instead she gets another web of intrigue, lies, cover-ups and more unexpected guests.

This is my 3rd book by this author that I have read and she doesn’t disappoint. She throws in quirky humor along with with suspense that keeps the reader captivated. This book could possibly be read as stand alone but I would recommend reading the first book for a better understanding of the trials that Samantha has just went through. It definitely helps to put in perspective why it immediately put her on high alert once she realized that “Joey” thinks she may have disc that Mona sent to her late husband.

The characters are lively and lovable with a steady story pace. The only thing I didn’t like was that Sam’s fraudulent credit card charges were never really addressed and I think that realistically mystery or no that would be something I addressed with my friend. Once again, the author surprises you with an unexpected ending. I had convinced myself that David was really Clay in disguise so I was disappointed that I was wrong! I kept trying to figure out where is the puzzle and who is Joey? It is a mystery that will keep you guessing to the very end. Overall, good read for anyone who loves a cozy mystery filled with suspense and humor.
